The Coeur d’Alene Crossing is a point to point open water swim. Participants can choose between 2.4 or 1.2 mile distance. This event is designed to raise money for local aquatics programs. The start is at Arrow Point and the finish is at the Hagadone Event Center.

Ways to Support The Crossing:

  1. Enjoy a beautiful swim across Lake CDA with our amazing safety team’s support! Cost is only $85 if registered by July 26th. Registration from July 27-Aug 7th goes up to $95. Enjoy a Continental Breakfast buffet at the Hagadone Event Center and stay for awards and raffle prizes after the race.
  2. Make a Donation on the registration site: help raise money for local aquatics programs including 3rd Grade Swim through your generous donation. ( There is a Donation option during your event registration online, you can donate to the cause with or without registering to swim across the lake!)
  3. Be a Corporate Sponsor! We need corporate and business sponsors with your donation of $250, $500, or $1000, $1500 or $2000. (Download Sponsorship Form).
  4. Provide a Raffle prize to celebrate the athletes after a great race:  email crossingcda@gmail.com if you would like to provide a raffle prize.

This open water swim is designed to raise money for some great local charities.

Check In / Start Time:

2.4 Mile Athletes: Registered swimmers must check-in at Clerk-of-Course for 2.4 Mile swimmers beginning at 5:45 AM and must be completed by 6:25 AM.  The 2.4 Mile Athletes and spectators begin boarding the boat at 6:00 AM from Hagadone Event Center and will be taken to the Start Line at Arrow Point. The cruise boat will leave promptly at 6:30 AM. A mandatory Pre-Race Technical Briefing will take place at 6:30 AM on the boat, and a 15-minute warm up time will be provided between arriving at Arrow Point and start time. The race will start at approximately 7:30 AM.

1.2 Mile Athletes: Registered swimmers must check-in at Clerk-of-Course for 1.2 Mile Swimmers beginning at 6:30 AM and must be completed by 7:25 AM.  The 1.2 Mile Athletes and spectators begin boarding the boat at 7:00 AM from Hagadone Event Center and will be taken to the Start Line at the half way point in the middle of the lake. The cruise boat will leave promptly at 7:30 AM. A mandatory Pre-Race Technical Briefing will take place at 7:30 AM on the boat, Athletes will start from the boat deck for the 1.2 mile swim and race to the shore line. The race will start at approximately 8:00 AM.

Registration / Packet Pickup:

Saturday prior to the race, 3pm – 5pm. Pre-Race day packet pick up KROC Center located at 1765 W. Golf Course Rd, CDA, ID, 83815.  Pick up will be in the main lobby area.  PLEASE do your best to make it on Saturday if possible to help Sunday morning run smoothly.

Race day packet pick up will be available on Sunday morning for those unable to check in on Saturday.  Please visit the registration table after the shuttle drops you off at the event center.

Here are some important pieces of information for you before this exciting event:

  1. Race Day Info: **Itinerary will be available closer to Race Day.

  2. Race Packet Pick Up: Be sure to pick up your gear and get your athlete number on Saturday, August 10th from 3-5pm at the KROC Center.  More details are in the itinerary link above! IF you can’t make it Saturday, we will have a few volunteers at a registration table on race day-please arrive early so that you can get your packet and not miss the boat!

  3. Parking:  CLICK HERE to see maps for parking and the layout of the event site. Shuttle service will begin at 5:45AM from the parking lot on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive.  1.2 Mile racers can arrive a little later, as your boat will leave 1 hour AFTER the 2.4 Mile racers. This should help with early shuttle congestion. (Sorry-No downtown shuttle this year).

  4. Awards: We will be able to present awards for the top male and female athlete for each age group category for the FULL Distance only-(broken down by 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+) directly after the race.  We are still awarding the youngest, wisest (eldest), and farthest travelers too!

  5. Breakfast and Raffle: A delicious breakfast will be served post race and we have an array of amazing raffle prizes from local sponsors!  Participants are AUTOMATICALLY entered into the raffle, but you must be present to win!

  6. Sponsors: We will have Parker Subaru and our other sponsors on site at the event with booths to help you engage with some great sponsors.  Thank you also to all our sponsors for their generous support of the event this year!

  7. Gear For Sale! Want a past medal refurbished as a coaster? Lose your favorite t-shirt from a previous Crossing event?  Bring a few extra dollars and you can purchase all of these after the event! $5 for caps and coasters, $10 for t-shirts, limited supply, so get them while they last!

Course Cutoff Time:

Participants must be at least half way before the official clock is at 1 hour and 10 minutes. Any swimmers failing to be halfway over the allotted time will be stopped and listed as DNF.

Course Information:

Paramedics and Law Enforcement will be present. Water temperature in Lake Coeur d’Alene is expected to be approximately 72°F.

Wetsuits:

Wetsuits will be allowed but not mandatory.

Safe Swim Buoy:

Safe Swim Buoy will be allowed but not mandatory.

Fins

Fins will be allowed but may not place on result

* T-shirts will NOT be given out to anyone that registers as a “late entry”. Registration fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.

Timing and Results:

Timing will be conducted with an online platform timing system. Results will be made available as quickly as possible after the conclusion of the events on our website and will be emailed to participants.

Awards, Shirts, Medals:

The top male and female finisher get awards. First 300 Finishers get medals

Safety and Rules:

Safety will be of paramount consideration during this competition. All applicable USAS and USMS rules, regulations and safety requirements will be enforced for the well being of the swimmers. The event will be held rain or shine, and delays for lightning will be accommodated as much as possible. The Meet Referee will be the final authority on cancellation or postponement.

If the race is stopped during competition it will be either re-ran in its entirety or abandoned outright. No refunds will be available in the event of cancellation or postponement.

Directions from Spokane or Missoula on I-90:

Take Exit 15 toward Sherman Ave. Continue onto E Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive. Turn Right onto S Floating Green Drive. Park at the Hagadone Event Center.

FAQ's

We had approximately 20 buoys.

They are set up to create a swim channel.

Everyone starts together. They line up in 3 groups. Fast group is in the water, Sport group is standing in the water and Fun group is on the beach. Everyone “Self Seats” themselves.

Swimmers get first priority.

There are bathrooms on the boat.

The boat will be back at the dock prior to the first swimmer finishing.

There are not a lot of areas that provide a place to lock your bike up.

There is no place to park a jet ski or boat.

Our youngest swimmer to complete the 2.4 mile swim was 9 years old, with a time of 1:05.31.
Our oldest swimmer was 84 years young with a time of 1:26.17.
